Miryam graduated from the University of Murcia in 2010 and moved to a veterinary teaching hospital to complete a Diagnostic Imaging Internship.  In 2013, Miryam commenced a 12 month rotation internship at Southfields (formerly VRCC) before returning to the University of Murcia to undertake a residency in Small Animal Diagnostic Imaging.

In April 2018, she completed a 3-year residency programme, where she spent time at the University of Dublin and the University of Glasgow.

Miryam has published several scientific papers in Diagnostic Imaging and she has also spoken at national and international conferences.

Clinician in Diagnostic Imaging

Friederike graduated from the University of Munich in Germany and worked part-time in referral practices as a locum whilst pursuing her doctoral thesis in veterinary and nuclear medicine. She stayed in research (nuclear medicine and basic immunology) for several years working at the University of Munich and UC Davis in California, where she developed a strong interest in clinical diagnostic imaging.

After returning to Germany, Friederike completed a 4 year residency in Diagnostic Imaging at the University of Giessen, with externships at the University of Ghent and Bern. After 1.5 years at the University of Liège veterinary school in Belgium and 2.5 years at the Animal Health Trust in Newmarket, Friederike joined the diagnostic imaging team at Southfields in August 2018.

Friederike  enjoys all modalities of diagnostic imaging and enjoys being involved with all the different disciplines of veterinary medicine.  She loves working in a happy, friendly environment with highly qualified colleagues.

Clinician in Diagnostic Imaging

Sara graduated from the University of Bologna with honors in 2004 and worked full time at the Veterinary Teaching Hospital of the University of Bologna, until 2012. During her time at the University, Sara completed a School of Specialization in Small Animal Medicine and was awarded a PhD.

After one year spent working in a referral practice in Bologna, Sara decided to focus her attention in Diagnostic Imaging field and in 2015 she moved to “Istituto Veterinario di Novara” where she started a Diagnostic Imaging Internship until 2017.

In 2018, Sara worked free-lance and in teleradiology in general/referral practices as Diagnostic Imaging Consultant in Italy and as locum in UK, before moving permanently to UK in January 2019.

Outside work Sara enjoys travelling, doing sport and going for long walks with her dog.

Olga graduated from Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona in 2013, with a masters degree in Molecular Biotechnology. After 2 years of working in first opinion, Olga completed an externship in the US. In 2015 Olga received a scholarship for working in a small animal hospital in Laos for 6 months. After that period, Olga returned to Barcelona to undertake a Rotating Internship followed by a Diagnostic Imaging Internship.

In her spare time, Olga enjoys travelling and doing outdoor activitied such as diving or climbing, meeting with friends and taking a walk with her dog Rex.

Laura -Ruiz de Alejos Blanco

Imaging Intern

After graduating from the University of León, Laura worked in first opinion practices in Spain and in UK for more than three years. Then started a 12 month rotation internship at a referral hospital in Valencia. At the same time she completed the Improve International postgraduate program in Diagnostic Imaging and obtained the General Practitioner Certificate. She then worked at the Imaging department of a busy hospital before completing a 12 month Diagnostic Imaging Internship at the University of Murcia.

Laura has keen interest in all the Imaging modalities, specially in ultrasound and CT, and loves working in a multidisciplinary team.

Senior Imaging Nurse

Jessica is a Registered Veterinary Nurse who joined the Southfields Veterinary Specialists’ team in December 2017 as a Diagnostic Imaging Nurse. She is currently studying for her CertVNECC (a qualification designed for veterinary nurses who have an interest in extending their knowledge and understanding of small animal emergency and critical care nursing).

Jessica thoroughly enjoys diagnostic imaging, particularly CT and is also very interested in emergency and critical care medicine.

Imaging Nurse

Katie started her career as a veterinary care assistant and worked her way up to become a qualified veterinary nurse in 2017. Always wanting to work in a referral practice, Katie joined Southfields in April 2019. She has a keen interest in orthopaedics and radiography.

In her spare time she enjoys keeping fit, spending time with her friends and family and taking her Bichon Frise, Tilly for lovely walks.
